The opal is a 7 x 9 mm oval, held in four claws and set high enough that light reaches it from the side as well as the top - which is where the flashes of orange and green come from as the hand moves. Against the white body of the stone they read as sparks rather than color blocks.
Each shoulder carries a triangular cluster of small clear stones that steps down from the setting into a plain 1.60 mm band. The band itself is left unset, so the ring stacks against a plain band without the two catching on each other.
